About The Author

I grew up spending summers and many weekends in the fall, winter and spring on Lake Winnipesaukee, “messing around in boats,” sharing small cottages with extended family and learning to love the lake.  My grandparents, Alice and Harrison Rainie bought a small cottage on Dockham Shore in 1956 and the original cottage, built-in 1928 is still standing.

In addition to writing a children’s book, I am also a filmmaker and media researcher.  I am currently an Associate Professor and the Director of Media Production  in the School of Communication at Florida State university.  Although I have to spend a lot of time in North Florida, I still manage to spend 6-8 weeks in the summer on the Lake with my wife Ansje Burdick and my daughter Winni and son Jasper.
